ABOUT CHEVROLET MALIBU

The mid-size Chevrolet Malibu car (named after the city of Malibu, California) was launched in the United States by General Motors. This model entered the markets of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Israel. For the first time the name Malibu appeared in 1962. That was the name of the Chevrolet Chevelle special car. This continued until 1977. And only in 1978 the name Malibu completely replaced Chevelle. The Chevrolet Malibu was smaller than the previous mid-size cars. At that time, only two versions were offered: Malibu and Malibu Classic.

The proposed Chevrolet Malibu Landau series had a two-color body (the upper and lower parts had different colors) and a vinyl roof. The Chevrolet Malibu was offered in three body styles: a 2-door coupe, a 4-door sedan and a pickup truck. Note that the 4-door Malibu model had a special version of the 9C1 police for the police services. She replaced the previously used Chevrolet Nova. From 1978 to 1981. Chevrolet Malibu used platform A, with rear-wheel drive. In 1979, a 4.4-horsepower, 4.4-liter V8 power unit appeared on the list of proposed engines. In 1980, there is a very rare Malibu M80 model. It was proposed only for North Carolina and South Carolina, which revived the era of “powerful cars” (5th wheel waterproof cover).

The contract amount was $ 100 million. These were not standard versions of 4-door sedans. Under the hood was a GM V6 engine with a volume of 3.8 liters and a power of 110 hp. In order, a 3-speed manual gearbox was installed and the gear knob was located on the floor. All cars were equipped with air conditioning, improved cooling system, sturdy lining and 14-inch steel wheels. As a result, they were used in the services of the Iraqi taxi. In 1982, 12,000 more cars were ready to be sent to Iraq, but the order was canceled.

Iraqi officials explained this as “problems with the car,” but the real reason was that the military operations that began at that time were related to Iran. As a result, the cars were sold at a significantly reduced price in Canada. For the car, three transmission options are offered: manual 3 and 4-speed gearboxes, as well as 3-speed “automatic”. In 1982, the Chevrolet Malibu undergoes some external changes, and also goes to the G platform with rear-wheel drive along with cars like the Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and Buick Regal. In addition, there are two diesel engines: V6 Diesel with a volume of 4.3 liters and a power of 85 hp. and a V8 engine of 105 hp and 5.8 liters. In the same year, the following gasoline units were removed from the list of engines: a 4.4-liter V8 engine with a capacity of 115 hp. and a V8 of 170 horsepower with a volume of 5.8 liters. The next generation appeared only after 15 years. In 1997, General Motors introduced the new Chevrolet Malibu with front-wheel drive, which was based on GM’s N platform. It was already an elegant 4-door sedan with smooth lines. Two engine variants were prepared: an LD9 I4 2.4-liter power unit with an output power of 150 hp. and the volume of the engine LG8 V6 of 3,1 liters of capacity of 155 CV. As for the transmission, a 4-speed automatic transmission was installed. In the same year, Chevrolet Malibu wins the Motor Trend magazine nomination. 2019 Malibu’s Trim Levels

2019 Chevy Malibu – Trims

Chevrolet set out to make a Malibu for everyone, and the result is five great trim levels:

L Trim Level

LS Trim Level

RS Trim Level

LT Trim Level

Premier Trim Level

Each one of these configurations has something special to offer. Even the base model includes features you’d have to pay extra for if you look at midsize sedans from competing brands. The Malibu RS is an exciting new addition to the family that appears for the first time with this redesign. The 2019 RS Malibu is designed to breathe some extra sportiness into this already capable model. You’ll notice exciting features like dual exhaust, a spoiler, and 18 inch wheels with an attention-grabbing design. It sports an intimidating black grille and black Chevy bowtie emblems along with specialized RS badging and new color options. The interior incorporates leather into the design on both the shifter and steering wheel. The highest trim level, the 2019 Premier trim, includes a 250 horsepower 2.0L turbocharged Chevy ECOTEC engine. This feeds its significant power to a nine-speed automatic transmission for a smooth ride and great fuel economy. The eight-inch Driver Information Center showcases the brains in this car, which you and your copilot will both love. Standard heated outboard rear seats will keep the backseat passengers happy as well.
